Original design Billy Bell Jr. (1962)

Welcome

Located in the heart of Palm Desert, the Palm Desert Country Club was designed and built in the early 1960’s by Billy Bell, Jr., one of the world’s renowned golf course architects. Since those early days however, the course and its facilities had fallen on hard times. By 2004 the fairways were essentially dirt and weeds, with the clubhouse on the verge of condemnation.

The revitalization of the Palm Desert Country Club was the brainchild of developers Larry Kosmont and Randy Case. They became interested in turning around the City’s namesake golf course after a visit in 2003. By working very closely with the community and with the City of Palm Desert, Mr. Kosmont and Mr. Case were able to structure the redevelopment so that it was economically feasible. They selected Cary Bickler as the course architect, whose commitment to the historic fabric of this 1956 vintage Bill Bell Jr course helped set the pace for change and improvement. In doing so, they re-established the centerpiece for a community that was in dire need of being restored to the prestige it once held.
